Becky Strain

Becky Strain is a Certified Casting Instructor with FFF and has 24 years experience fly fishing in both fresh and salt water. She has been guiding and teaching for Unicoi Outfitters in Blue Ridge since the shop first opened. A member of FFF, Coosa Valley Trout Unlimited and Georgia Women Fly fishers, she enjoys sharing her love of fly fishing with others through both teaching classes and guiding on the Toccoa, Noontootla Creek Farms and Mountaintown. "While my goal and the goal of every client is to catch fish, my hope is that they leave at the end of the day having learned something new about the sport, whether casting mechanics or fishing techniques. One thing I love about fly fishing is that the learning phase never stops. My first fly fishing trip was to the Madison River in Montana in 1986 where I flailed the water, stayed tangled with a dry dropper rig, snagged my share of trees, caught fish, got dubbed the "whitefish queen" and had the time of my life. Little did I realize that one day I would be the one untangling line, getting flies out of trees, getting clients catching fish, and still having the time of my life."

When not guiding or fishing for trout, Becky can be found fishing for bream and bass on local ponds or stalking bonefish and tarpon in the Florida Keys. A three time winner of the Women's World Invitational Bonefish Tournament, Becky holds a world record for bonefish on fly.
