David Hulsey

David has been guiding for 15 years, not only in North Georgia, but on some of the great rivers and streams in western Wyoming. These days he spends most of his time guiding near Blue Ridge and western North Carolina. David is also the manager of our Blue Ridge store.

David is a graduate of the Joan Wulff Fly Casting Instructor School, and is an FFF Certified Casting Instructor. These credentials come in handy when he teaches the fly fishing classes for Unicoi Outfitters.

While he's primarily a trout fisherman, David is known to do some warm-water fly-fishing as well, but he considers his ideal day guiding "Rowing my clients down the river in my old handcrafted wooden Mackenzie drift boat on a bluebird sky Fall day in the Appalachian mountains."

Conservation-minded, David is actively involved in the local Blue Ridge Trout Unlimited Chapter and Federation of Fly Fishers club. He is also a published outdoor writer and photographer. In his off-time he enjoys woodworking and fly tying. David's specialties include sight fishing trophy trout, and "combat fishing" the small streams of the Southern Appalachians.
