North Georgia’s Best Kept Secret? River Bass

River Bass are veracious predators, and strong fighters- a worthy adversary for the fly rod. Many rivers in North Georgia boast water for both Shoal Bass and Stripers. These rivers are also home to Spotted Bass, Redeye bass, Largemouth Bass, Longnose Gar, Carp and plenty of Sunfish species. All of our river bass float trips are guided out of 3 man Smithfly Big Shoals rafts, and will typically consist of a 6-8 hour float. On these trip lots of accurate casting in the 30′-40′ range is needed throughout the day to be successful. With that said we find these trips best suited for anglers with at least intermediate casting and fly fishing experience.

Shoal Bass

Shoal Bass are a unique bass species, native to the Apalachicola river basin. Shoal bass are current oriented and can be found in the nastiest whitewater, riffles, and pools making them an extremely fun target species on the fly-rod. Most fishing consists of Poppers, Streamers, and Craw-fish patterns, When you hook up, prepare for a fight pound for pound they are one of the best fighting fish in Georgia!
