Fish With Unicoi

At Unicoi Outfitters, we take pride in our knowledgeable, approachable guide staff. Every one of our guides has extensive experience on our local waters, along with time spent fishing all across the country.

More than just putting clients on fish, our guides focus on teaching sound fundamentals and proper technique. They’re here to help you become a better, more confident angler. That’s the difference between a good fisherman and a guide.

Public Water Trout Trips

Unicoi Outfitters holds permits to a massive portion of Georgia’s Public Water Streams. We are licensed to fish on streams in the Chattahoochee National Forest, as well as non-USFS locations such as Smith Creek at Unicoi State Park and Dukes Creek at Smithgall Woods.  Within a close drive from the shop, we have countless public rivers and streams, including delayed harvest waters, stocked waters, and wild trout areas.

We offer public water trout trips 7 days a week October through early July, weather permitting.

Private Water Trophy Trout Trips

Big fish small water. Unicoi has access to several sections of private water on the Soque river between Batesville & Clarkesville Georgia. For anglers looking to have the chance at a trout of a lifetime the Soque is the place to fish. 16”- 20” fish are common, and you will have shots at trout that are 24”- 30” long.

We offer private water trips 7 days a week October through early June, weather permitting.

Striper Trips

Our Striper trips are guided on Lake Sydney Lanier by Joseph Clark. Joseph is a fully licensed and insured guide for Unicoi Outfitters. He has spent countless hours learning Lake Lanier and the tendencies of the critters that call it home. Joseph specializes in fly and light tackle fishing on the lake for both stripers and spotted bass.

Bass trips

North Georgia is home to some incredible bass fisheries. From highland reservoirs full of trophy spotted bass and largemouth, to fast rocky rivers with shoal and redeye bass. Unicoi offers both lake and river trips for bass. Once you hook into a few of these fish you will learn why the North Georgia bass fishing is a staff favorite!

Learn to Fly Fish

Unicoi Outfitters prides itself on educating new fly anglers. Our guides have years of experience on the rivers and streams of North Georgia, and are skilled in helping you to develop good and proper fishing technique. A large portion of our annual customers are new or first time fly anglers, so there is no need to fear from a lack of experience. In all of our trips, more than anything, we hope to help you develop knowledge to catch fish, as well as an appreciation for the resources.

For anglers looking to try fly fishing The Gilligan Special is the perfect place to start.

The Gilligan is a three hour trip. The first hour is a casting lesson, followed by two hours of guided instructional trout fishing on one of our local public water streams. We provide rods, reels, waders, flies, and the knowledge needed for a first-class introduction to fly fishing. The Gilligan is designed for two people, so it is perfect for those on vacation in North Georgia who have wondered about fly-fishing but not had the opportunity to try it.

While designed for two, arrangements can be made for larger groups. We offer the Gilligan Special October through June, weather permitting.
